Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and support project delivery across the UK. This role provides hands-on experience in cost management, procurement, and commercial administration while working with experienced professionals.

You will develop skills in measurement, valuations, cost control and reporting, gaining exposure to live projects and collaborative teams in a leading infrastructure business.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in Quantity Surveying and be eligible to work in the UK.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
• Good communication and organisational skills with a proactive learning mindset.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to different office locations.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial team in managing project costs and maximise value.
• Measure, record and value completed works in line with company procedures.
• Assist with cost reconciliation statements and commercial reporting.
• Gather and analyse construction cost data to support decision making.
• Support procurement activities, including preparing and collating procurement docs.
• Assist with subcontractor measurement, valuations and agreement processes.
• Support weekly and monthly works programmes and use company systems to manage information.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to enable successful delivery.
