Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Graduate P&C engineer to assist in designing substation projects across the country, with guidance from senior engineers. You will contribute to producing project documentation used on live projects for clients such as National Grid, Scottish Power, and SSE.

You will work on AIS & GIS substation design, develop electrical diagrams, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, gaining exposure to HV concepts and CAD/BIM workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or related field.
• Basic ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design process on live projects, including electrical schematics and layout drawings.
• Perform calculations such as busbar short circuit and cable sizing.
• Assist in protection philosophy documents and LD diagrams.
• Set up CAD/BIM configuration and procedures for projects.
• Prepare engineering drawings from sketches using CAD/BIM software.
