Job summary

Burns & McDonnell UK is seeking a senior Protection & Control engineer to lead design on major transmission projects in the UK. You will set technical standards, review design philosophies, and act as the escalation point for complex issues.

The role requires extensive P&C experience, leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, and deep knowledge of UK grid procedures. Strong communication with clients and stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with extensive protection & control experience.
• 13 years of protection & control design experience OR 12 years with a Master’s degree.
• UK electricity transmission & distribution sector experience preferred.
• Knowledge of UK health, safety, environmental and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Direct the strategic Protection & Control design of major transmission projects.
• Serve as technical authority for Protection & Control engineering in the UK.
• Lead senior engineering teams and ensure delivery of P&C design packages.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, and bid evaluations.
• Maintain quality assurance and compliance with National Grid procedures.
