Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in the UK is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to gain hands‑on experience in civil and structural engineering for high voltage substations (11kV–400kV) across power projects.

You will work under senior engineers to produce design packages, assist FEED, and support proposals while managing multiple tasks and deadlines. A degree in Civil/Structural engineering and CAD skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural engineering from an accredited institution.
• Membership of a relevant engineering institution preferred (ICE/IStructE).
• IT literate with good Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD) for engineering design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Able to manage tasks on multiple projects with deadlines.
• Able to work autonomously or in a team.
• Proactive in developing civil engineering knowledge and industry understanding.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed high voltage substation design packages compliant with ENA/BS/IEC/IEEE standards.
• Participate in FEED stage projects and produce technical reports.
• Support preparation of technical solutions for proposals.
• Manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently or as part of a project team.
• Support Safety by Design and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to design drawings and technical documentation.
