Job summary

Arup is growing its mining capabilities in the North of the UK and you will contribute to mining and underground infrastructure projects across the EIMEA region. You’ll develop analytical and report writing skills while engaging with multidisciplinary teams.

You may have opportunities for site visits or overseas work, and you’ll be supported to achieve professional qualifications as you grow within the mining, resources, or underground engineering field.

Qualifications

• Strong A-levels (or equivalent) at Grade B or above.
• Masters level (or PhD) in mining engineering, metallurgy / minerals processing, exploration/mining geology, tunnelling or rock mechanics or a related degree
• On track to achieve a 2.1 or above, as proven through the modules that you have completed to date
• Demonstrate strong motivation and passion for a career in the mining or underground engineering space.
• Strong numerical and data handling skills
• Proficiencyin the use of word-processing and spreadsheet software e.g Microsoft Word and Excel or equivalent
• Software skills such as: OpenGround, RocScience, ArcGIS, Leapfrog, Deswik, VentSim etc
• Language skills and experience of working outside of the UK
• Good report writing, and written communication skills
• Planned and organised approach to work and meeting deadlines
• Creative approach to problem solving
• Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Geological data interpretation and underground engineering design support.
• Environmental planning contributions for projects.
• Digital approaches to subsurface modelling and analysis.
• Collaboration with mining team and specialists across disciplines.
• Support for development of resilient, low-carbon mining solutions in the UK and globally.
