Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a specialist Building Services consultancy. You will design mechanical building services systems, produce calculations, and prepare drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team on projects across healthcare, education, commercial and public sector developments, contributing to low-carbon and sustainable solutions while ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience in a Building Services consultancy (graduate level or above).
• Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services design.
• Experience using AutoCAD; Revit advantageous.
• Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive attitude with willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water services and public health systems.
• Produce mechanical calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Prepare detailed drawings and coordinated designs using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Assist with equipment selection and plant sizing.
• Carry out site surveys and attend client and design meetings.
• Liaise with architects, structural engineers, contractors and clients throughout project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations and industry standards.
• Support the delivery of low-carbon and sustainable engineering solutions.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll be involved in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects from initial concept through to completion.
