Job summary

BSV Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our specialist building services consultancy focused on sustainable design, energy efficiency and decarbonisation. You will support senior engineers across new-build, refurbishment and energy projects.

You'll gain hands-on experience with HVAC design, 2D/3D modelling using AutoCAD and Revit, and collaboration with electrical engineers, architects and contractors, while learning UK regulations and industry standards to deliver

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Interested in developing a career in mechanical building services consultancy.
• Familiar with AutoCAD, Revit or similar engineering/design software.
• Able to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Organised, proactive and keen to learn.
• Interested in sustainability, energy efficiency and the decarbonisation of buildings.
• Ideally has some previous experience of mechanical building services design, although relevant graduate or junior-level experience will be considered

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and development of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water and above-ground drainage.
• Support engineers with calculations, technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
• Assist with 2D and 3D modelling using software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
• Support site surveys, inspections and condition assessments.
• Assist with the preparation of technical reports, schedules and project documentation.
• Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, architects, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Develop an understanding of UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance and relevant industry standards.
• Support the development of energy-efficient and low-carbon engineering solutions, including heat pumps, heat networks and other sustainable technologies.
• Attend site visits and assist with technical support during project delivery.
• Work under the guidance of senior engineers while progressively taking responsibility for elements of project work.
