Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Fareham office, delivering mechanical building services designs across healthcare, education, commercial, and residential sectors.

You'll work in a multidisciplinary team from concept to completion, produce calculations, specs, drawings in AutoCAD and Revit, and ensure compliance with Building Regulations while supporting low-carbon solutions.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience within a Building Services consultancy (graduate level or above).
• Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services design.
• Experience using AutoCAD, with Revit experience advantageous.
• A good understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to continue learning and developing professionally.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water services and public health systems.
• Produce mechanical calculations, specifications and technical reports.
• Prepare detailed drawings and coordinated designs using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Assist with equipment selection and plant sizing.
• Carry out site surveys and attend client and design meetings.
• Liaise with architects, structural engineers, contractors and clients throughout project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations and industry standards.
• Support the delivery of low-carbon and sustainable engineering solutions.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll be involved in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects from initial concept through to completion.
