Job summary

Harris Academy Wickford is seeking a dedicated graduate Tutor in Maths to support students with targeted 1:1 tuition and small-group sessions. You will record progress, liaise with parents, and help students reach examination targets.

The role forms part of the Harris Federation, offering professional development, safeguarding, and a supportive team environment. A Maths degree and strong numeracy/literacy skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Delivering programmes of study to small groups or 1:1 tutoring.
• Liaising with parents regarding attendance, progress and attitude.
• Maintaining records of students' progress toward examination targets.
• Completing marking and providing feedback.
• Identifying learning needs within class settings and coordinating with teachers.
• Assisting the teacher to evaluate students’ progress through assessments.
• Supporting students to engage with learning objectives set for lessons.
• Planning with teachers the role you will take in lessons and preparing resources.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Delivering programmes of study to small groups of students in a 1:1 setting
• Ensuring students are given every opportunity to meet their examination and/or liaising with parents regarding the attendance, progress and attitude of designated students
• Maintaining records of students’ progress in relation to their examination targets
• Completing relevant marking and providing feedback
• Within a whole class setting, highlighting individual students' learning needs to the teacher and agreeing how they will be supported
• Assisting the teacher in evaluating identified students’ progress through agreed assessment activities
• Supporting identified students to engage with the learning objectives set for the lesson
• Planning with teachers the role they will take in the lesson, preparing resources that meet the students’ needs and interests

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• Relevant qualifications that help demonstrate evidence at A Level and undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Maths
• Excellent numeracy/literacy skills
