Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Graduate Electrical or Mechanical Design Engineer to join Kier Design from one of our offices in Manchester, London or Liverpool. This permanent, full-time 2-year programme leads to an assistant level role with salary potential around £38k.

Starting salary is £31,000 per annum, with a September 2027 start date. The role involves rotations across design, site secondments, and mentorship to support professional qualifications.

• Engineering Council accredited degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or closely-related discipline.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to the design and checking of permanent design solutions.
• Assisting with tender and bid-winning support, including outline design schemes and feasibility studies.
• Supporting the development of alternative solutions and value engineering.
• Conducting site visits, surveys and inspections, and attending meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Identifying technical risks and solutions to facilitate scoping, pricing, design and construction.

We're looking for a Graduate Electrical or Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Kier Design team based out of a one of our offices.

Location: Based out of one of our offices in either Manchester, London or Liverpool

Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Starting Salary: £31,000 per annum

Pathway:Permanent, Full-time 2-year programme, leading to assistant level role upon completion with salary potential of CIRCA £38k

Starting date:September 2027

What will you be responsible for?

As a Graduate Electrical or Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll be working within the Kier Design team, supporting them in delivering a range of designs and consultancy services across all sectors of the built environment. Your day to day will include:

What are we looking for?

We're looking for people due to graduate in 2027, or have recently graduated within the past three years, with a degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering. Thisrole of Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer is great for you if you:

• Have completed an Engineering Council accredited degree in electrical/building services or mechanical engineering or a closely-related discipline
• Demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in electrical or mechanical engineering and the construction industry, with clear motivation to learn and develop professionally
