Job summary

Arup in Glasgow is seeking a Graduate Controls Engineer to join the Building Performance & Systems team. You will help design the Building Management System (BMS), the brain of the building, for a wide range of new projects and promote energy efficiency.

You’ll work with mechanical, electrical and public health engineers, visit sites to test controls and witness installations, and contribute to energy performance improvements across sectors including offices, education and data centres.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate / Bachelor’s level in engineering related to the role.
• Strong interest in the built environment and how buildings operate.
• Interest in developing mechanical, electrical, ICT, digital skills.
• IoT awareness in the built environment.
• Excellent written English; provide evidence of own work if requested.
• Strong numerical skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and public health engineers on building design projects to design the controls principles for those systems.
• Produce the controls/BMS specifications (Word and Excel output) and drawings as part of our controls output deliverables.
• Work with contractors to review their design development for installation on site.
• Attend site, check the installation of the BMS and test functionality.
