Job summary

Arup in Manchester is seeking a Graduate Blast Engineer to join our resilience, security and risk practice. You''ll prepare blast engineering analyses and design of structural and façade systems, collaborating with architects, engineers, cost consultants and project managers to integrate designs into the built environment.

This role offers training, exposure to first-principles design, and opportunities to work across a multi-disciplinary team, with a path to professional qualification.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (on track to 2:1/60% or above).
• Excellent written, verbal and sketch communication skills.
• Interest/experience in Fluid Dynamics, Structural Dynamics, post-elastic non-linear structural response.
• Strong understanding of structural behaviour and philosophy of structural design.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blast engineering analysis and design of structural and façade systems.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design teams to integrate solutions into the built environment.
• Develop design basis and meet risk-based requirements with threat specialists.
