Step Into Teaching are working with a specialist SEN school in Birmingham (B24) seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant to join ASAP for the 2026/27 academic year. Based in one of the school's most complex classes, you will support up to 8 students alongside 4 staff, with some pupils non-verbal and communicating through alternative methods.

This is a full-time, term-time only role, Monday to Friday, paying £500–£530 per week.

SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant – Birmingham (B24, Erdington)

Specialist SEN School | ASAP Start | 2026/27 Academic Year

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable experience in specialist education before progressing into teaching, Educational Psychology, or a related field?

We are working with a highly supportive specialist SEN school in Birmingham (B24) that is seeking a compassionate and resilient graduate to join their team ASAP for the 2026/27 academic year.

This role is based within one of the school’s most complex classes, supporting up to 8 students alongside 4 members of staff. Students are at very early stages of communication, with some being non-verbal and communicating through alternative methods. At times, students may express frustration through physical behaviours such as touching, pushing, or kicking, so patience, resilience, and a calm approach are essential.

The Role:

• Full-time, Monday to Friday
• £500–£530 per week (term time only)
• Support students with complex SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN specialists
• Help create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
