Graduate Teaching Assistant – SEND School – South Birmingham

A specialist SEND school in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and therapists to support pupils with a range of special educational needs. You will provide both 1-2-1 and classroom-based support, helping pupils to engage with learning, develop social skills, and build confidence. The school supports children with a variety of needs including Autism, ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties, communication needs, and associated learning challenges. Every day will present new opportunities to help pupils achieve success both academically and personally.

The Candidate

This role is ideally suited to a graduate who is considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or another child‑focused profession. You should be patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Previous experience working with children or vulnerable young people is advantageous, but not essential. Most importantly, you will have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to helping every child reach their potential.
