Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a Graduate 1:1 SEN Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Newcastle. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil and help them access learning across the school day.

You will work alongside teachers and SEN staff to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence. This role suits graduates studying Psychology, Education or related subjects and offers meaningful experience in SEND.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate with a degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Education, Childhood Studies or related subject.
• Desirable SEN experience, but not essential.
• Patient, calm, reliable and professional with a genuine interest in SEND.

Responsibilities

• Work 1:1 with a pupil throughout the school day.
• Support access to learning and classroom activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
• Support emotional regulation and confidence development.
• Assist with transitions and routine changes.
• Use appropriate communication techniques with the pupil.
• Build a strong professional relationship with the pupil.
• Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff.
