Job summary

Plas Meddyg Surgery is seeking a motivated GP Receptionist to join a friendly practice. The role involves answering calls, booking appointments, registering patients, updating records, and supporting clinicians to ensure smooth day-to-day operation.

Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and reliableGP Receptionist with excellent communication skills to join ourwell-established, friendly, innovative, practice. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic, and forward-thinking team.We welcome applications from experienced medical receptionists.

Currently offering 11h per week 2 days a week Monday 8.00-13.30, Friday 8.00-13.30 with possible extra shifts to cover emergencies and sickness. Possible permanent position.

Main duties of the job

Answering phones, booking appointments, answering patient's queries, chaperoning, supporting doctors and nurses in smooth running of the practice.

Job responsibilities

The GP Receptionist is responsible for providing a friendly, professional and efficient front-of-house service to patients and visitors. The role involves answering telephone calls and enquiries, booking and managing appointments, registering patients, updating records and handling administrative tasks. The receptionist will liaise with GPs, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients are directed to the appropriate service. The role also requires maintaining patient confidentiality, following practice policies and procedures, handling sensitive or difficult situations appropriately, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the GP practice. Good communication, organisation, teamwork and customer service skills are essential.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a reception role within a GP practice is essential. Good knowledge of Emis and Docman operation systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional telephone manner. Good organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work accurately under pressure. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Good IT skills and experience using GP practice or clinical systems. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and deal calmly and professionally with patients, including in challenging situations.
