Job summary

Staveleigh Medical Centre is seeking a Medical Coder to turn clinical correspondence into accurate coded entries in patient records. You will code diagnoses and updates, then action items such as booking appointments, while maintaining GP system data integrity.

Experience with GP systems (SystmOne or EMIS) and Docman is essential; you will work closely with clinical and admin teams to keep records up to date and workflows efficient.

Qualifications

• Experience handling clinical correspondence and coding in GP systems.
• Experience with Docman or equivalent document management systems.
• Experience using GP clinical systems such as SystmOne or EMIS.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming clinical correspondence in paper and electronic formats.
• Review documents and extract relevant clinical information.
• Code diagnoses, measurements, problems and clinical updates accurately onto the GP system.
• Carry out actions arising from correspondence, such as booking appointments or passing information to the GP.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in line with practice protocols.
• Prioritise and manage workflow in a busy administrative environment.
• Communicate with the wider practice team to complete tasks on time.
