Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a GP to join a multi-site primary care service transitioning to a new organisation in 2027. You will deliver surgery and telephone consultations, manage prescriptions, and lead autonomous clinical decisions while contributing to service development and education for trainees.

Applicants must hold GMC registration, MRCGP or equivalent, and have proven GP experience in primary care with QOF involvement.

Qualifications

• MRCGP or equivalent with evidence of CPD commitment.
• Full GMC registration.
• Proven GP experience in a primary care setting, including management of undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
• Experience with QOF and other quality performance initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Hold surgery and telephone consultations, with home visits when needed.
• Manage queries, repeat prescriptions, paperwork and correspondence promptly.
• Make autonomous decisions on self-referred and referred patients.
• Assess undifferentiated and undiagnosed health needs, screen for disease risk, and provide counselling and health education.
• Admit and discharge patients from the caseload and refer to other care providers.
• Issue computer-generated prescriptions following the practice formulary where clinically appropriate.
• Keep clear consultation notes and patient records to agreed standards, including summarising records and Read-coding data.
• Contribute to Enhanced Services, QOF/IIF, audit, data collection and clinical standard setting.
• Help develop and deliver new services and care models in primary care.
• Contribute to training and supervision of medical and non-medical students and trainees.
• Provide clinical care to neurodiverse and trans, non-binary and intersex patients, with training provided.
• Follow practice policies, including prescribing, confidentiality and data protection, and commit to lifelong learning.
