Job summary

BMW Group Farnborough offers a Government Affairs placement year starting July 2027. You will learn by doing from day one, taking on real responsibilities within a supportive team.

You will support policy work, liaise with government and external bodies, and contribute to events and stakeholder engagement across UK activities.

This placement provides competitive pay, 27 days holiday pro rata, an attractive pension, a subsidised on-site restaurant and access to the BMW Advantages scheme.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2.2 or above, in politics or communications.
• Relevant work experience or enthusiasm for government and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

What awaits you?

• Support the Government Affairs team in daily administration, policy work, and event organization.
• Assist in liaising with government and external bodies, as well as internal departments.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of events, including visits to UK plants and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Help build and maintain relationships with UK government officials and external organizations.
• Support internal and external communications to promote BMW priorities and initiatives.

What should you bring along?

• Currently studying or having completed a Bachelor’s degree, with a passion for Politics and communications at 2.2 level or above.
• Relevant work experience or enthusiasm for government, politics, and stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Ability to support event planning, stakeholder liaison, and administrative tasks effectively.
