Job summary

Chime Housing is seeking a Governance Officer to support the governance and regulatory framework across the organisation. You will help coordinate Board and Committee meetings, maintain records and monitor policy compliance.

Based in Watford, the role is permanent, 37 hours per week, on‑site with flexible agile working. You will work with the Head of Corporate Governance and other colleagues to ensure transparency, accountability and legal compliance.

Qualifications

  • Experience in administrative, governance or compliance role.
  • Understanding of governance principles and standards.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel/Outlook).
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide governance support to Board, Committee and subsidiary meetings, including agenda preparation, minute taking, action tracking and attendance records.
  • Coordinate recruitment/induction of Non-Executive Directors and Gateway Membership Team members.
  • Maintain governance registers and policy framework.
  • Support compliance monitoring and reporting on policy performance.
  • Support regulatory compliance activities and monitor changes to legislation.
  • Provide administration and redaction support for GDPR compliance.

The Vacancy

We have an exciting vacancy to join our to Governance Team and play a key role in supporting the effective governance and compliance framework across Chime Housing. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a passion for good governance. You'll support Board and Committee meetings, monitor policy compliance, contribute to regulatory and information governance activities, and help ensure the organisation continues to meet its legal and regulatory obligations.

As Governance Officer, you'll work closely with colleagues, Board members and stakeholders, helping to ensure our governance processes run smoothly and effectively while supporting the organisation's strategic objectives.

To provide high-quality governance, policy and regulatory support across the organisation, ensuring effective administration of Board and Committee meetings, maintaining governance records and policy frameworks, and supporting compliance with regulatory and information governance requirements.

What’s the role?

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide governance support to Board, Committee and subsidiary meetings, including agenda preparation, minute taking, action tracking and attendance records.
  • Support the recruitment, induction and administration of Non-Executive Directors and Gateway Membership Team members.
  • Coordinate meeting planning, paper circulation and governance records.
  • Maintain governance registers, including Gifts & Hospitality and Declarations of Interest.
  • Support annual governance activities including the AGM and any Special General Meetings.
  • Assist in the maintenance and review of the Group's Policy Framework and Policy Register.
  • Support compliance monitoring and reporting on policy performance.
  • Support regulatory compliance activities and monitor changes to legislation, policy and regulation.
  • Provide administration and redaction support to ensure compliance with GDPR requirements.
What are we looking for?
  • Experience working in an administrative, governance or compliance-related role.
  • Understanding of good governance principles and professional standards.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work on your own initiative.
  • A collaborative approach and ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Flexible approach to work, including occasional attendance at evening meetings.
  • Confidence in using technology and the appropriate use of Artificial Intelligence to support work activities.
  • Knowledge of the policy, statutory and regulatory framework governing social housing.
  • Experience of working within a governance, regulated or social housing environment.
