Job summary

The Wrekin Housing Group Limited is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to support basic repairs, housekeeping and grounds maintenance across Stafford and surrounding areas. The role involves 36 hours per week on a seasonal basis, delivering materials, assisting operatives, and maintaining sites to high standards.

You will perform tasks such as grass cutting, gutter cleaning, painting, hedge trimming and other labouring duties, while adhering to safety practices and reporting issues

Qualifications

• Experience of simple grounds keeping.
• Understanding of Health and Safety Issues.
• Ability to undertake a patient approach with work situations.
• Ability to complete assignments and take tasks through to completion.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Carry out collection/delivery of materials, plant and equipment from suppliers to sites.
• Unload, store and stack materials delivered to sites.
• Maintain tidy work areas during and after tasks.
• Keep schedules documenting tasks and hours worked.
• General labouring duties including small works and building maintenance.
• Use hand tools for building repairs and small works.
• Support cleaning services across sheltered and general housing needs.
• Report any defects or items to appropriate personnel.
• Undertake grounds maintenance: grass cutting, gutter cleaning, painting, gulley cleaning, slab repair, hedge trimming, flower bed maintenance, weeding, fertilizing.

About the role:To assist with the delivery of basic repairs and housekeeping services and provide support with the delivery of the grounds maintenance service & provide other general assistance as instructed.

What you’ll do:

As a grounds maintenance operative you will be reasonable for the following:

• To undertake collection/Delivery of materials, plant & equipment from suppliers to sites
• To undertake collection/Delivery of materials, in support of operatives.
• To unload, store and stack materials that are delivered to sites.
• Ensuring all associated documentation is effectively and efficiently completed and accounted for
• To tidy up the work area during and after the job.
• Keeping to and updating schedules that document what needs to be completed and the order in which each task needs to be completed & detail how many hours have been worked
• Carry out general labouring duties including, but not limited to, small works, building fabric repairs and general building maintenance tasks
• To use hand power tools for building fabric repairs and small works
• Carry out labouring duties in support of cleaning services across sheltered and general needs housing.
• To report any additional items or defects encountered during the course of day-to-day work to the appropriate person(s).
• To undertake general grounds maintenance and gardening services duties to include:-
• Grass cutting
• Gutter cleaning
• Domestic Painting
• Gulley cleaning
• Slab repair
• Hedge trimming
• Flower bed maintenance
• Weeding
• Fertilizing plants and grass
• Ensuring that all sites are kept clean and tidy and free of litter
