Job summary

MERITUS is recruiting a Test & Controls Engineer in Telford to design, develop and commission PLC-based automation solutions for sectors including Aerospace, Defence, and FMCG. You will work across the full project lifecycle from software development to on-site commissioning and customer handover.

The role combines office-based engineering with UK and international travel to customer sites, delivering bespoke automation and control systems with a focus on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Significant experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs.
• Experience with Siemens S7/TIA Portal.
• PLC software development including ladder logic and function blocks.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify PLC software for automated systems.
• Commission and service on-site at customer sites in the UK and internationally.
• Test and validate hardware and software before delivery to customers.
• Provide fault-finding, diagnostics and remote support.
