Job summary

Meritus is recruiting a Test & Controls Engineer for their client in Telford, specialising in bespoke automation systems. The role covers PLC software development, testing and on-site commissioning with UK and international travel.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens S7 / TIA Portal, and SCADA systems, plus fault finding and customer-facing skills.

Qualifications

• Significant experience programming Allen Bradley PLCs.
• Experience with Siemens S7 / TIA Portal.
• PLC software development including ladder logic and structured programming.
• Experience testing and commissioning industrial automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify PLC software using Allen Bradley and Siemens S7 / TIA Portal.
• Create structured control software with ladder logic, function blocks, and structured programming.
• Configure industrial communications: EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus.
• Configure drives and inverter systems.
• Develop and tune PID control loops for process applications.
• Test and validate hardware and software before delivery.
• Commission new automation systems on UK and international sites.
• Provide technical support, fault finding and diagnostics remotely and on-site.
• Deliver customer training after project completion.
• Support development of robot and PLC software solutions.
