Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking a Controls Commissioning Engineer to join a dedicated team responsible for transitioning automated equipment from build to customer sign-off. The role involves programming PLCs/HMIs, commissioning servo drives and robots, and working across UK sites and abroad.

You’ll troubleshoot, test and document modifications while collaborating in design reviews and maintaining clear records. Travel to customer premises in the UK and overseas is possible.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational training or completion of a recognised apprenticeship in electrical and/or mechanical discipline.
• Experience programming PLCs and HMIs using platforms such as Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Festo, Codesys or Siemens.
• Knowledge of setting up Servos, VFDs, Remote I/O, Ethernet and Profibus networks.
• Proven electrical, pneumatic, or mechanical experience in the automation industry.
• Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematic diagrams and drawings.
• Knowledge of 6 Axis Robot systems is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Program and modify control systems using PLCs, servo drives, robots and other controllers.
• Troubleshoot and adjust mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and controls equipment.
• Fault finding and assessment of mechanisms.
• Modify systems to improve performance.
• Identify opportunities for system improvements and present to team.
• Record test results and document modifications.
• Provide feedback to the project team for progress.
• Participate in internal design reviews.
• May be required to work at customer premises in the UK and overseas.
