Job summary

ALPI UK is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Coordinator for its Sea Freight operations based in Basildon or Manchester. The role is permanent and full-time, with standard hours and salary in the £30,000–£33,500 range depending on experience.

You will assist in executing sea freight duties, supporting the Head of Ocean’s vision of a more competitive and profitable organisation. You will handle export and cross-trade activities, complete customs declarations, manage invoicing, reporting, and

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years Sea Export experience.
• Knowledge of Sea import or air exports preferred.
• Able to prioritise own workload but work well in a team.
• Proficient IT skills (MS Office) and systems.
• Excellent communication via telephone and e-mail.
• Experience with Excel reporting.
• Good understanding of logistics processes and procedures.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
• Demonstrates analytical skills with high level of detail.

Responsibilities

• Understand and execute the department's vision for Sea Freight growth.
• Complete all Export and Cross Trade activities including financial, legal and invoicing.
• Complete customs export declaration forms.
• Ensure all operational activities are completed on time.
• Report amendments to customs declaration forms to line manager.
• Maintain and utilise the operational system at all times.
• Maintain regular communication with line manager, reporting new sales leads and handover of shipments.
• Assist in maintain current SOPs for the department.
• Maintain excellent customer and inter-departmental relationships at all times.
• Follow up late customer payments in conjunction with credit control.
• Communicate quotations to the line manager/sales team and ensure all quotations are recorded.
• Implement and improve new efficiencies in customer workflow.
• Accurately complete all invoicing for exports and clients within 48 hours.
• Ensure insurances are charged correctly and any insurance claims are handed to line manager.
• Provide holiday and sickness cover as required.
