Job summary

Reed Smith LLP in London seeks a Senior BD Manager for Energy & Natural Resources to lead strategic BD initiatives, shape campaigns, and drive growth across the global network.

You will partner with ENR co-chairs and practice leaders, manage pitches, RFPs, and client targeting, and mentor a high-performing team in a cross-time-zone environment.

This role requires 10+ years in marketing/BD, international experience, and a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset to enhance revenue and brand.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of marketing and business development experience, preferably in the legal or professional services industry.
• Minimum of 5 years' proven direct line management experience, including across international locations.
• Knowledge of Energy & Natural Resources commercial landscape is advantageous.
• Experience working in a global, matrix-structured organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic BD leadership for the ENR group, directing development, prioritization, and execution of BD initiatives.
• Identify market opportunities and translate into actionable growth strategies.
• Develop thought leadership materials and campaigns with practice leaders and Marketing experts.
• Oversee pitch and RFP processes to improve win rates and submission quality.
• Lead cross-functional BD initiatives and drive alignment across stakeholders.
• Direct pipeline management and client targeting using CRM and experience management systems.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality BD programs and initiatives across the global function.
• Advise on resource allocation and investments to maximize impact.
• Champion adoption of BD technology platforms including AI tools and analytics.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing BD team.
• Occasional travel for meetings and events.
