Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Group Electrical Safety Manager to shape and govern electrical safety across its UK and US operations. The role prioritises long-term risk reduction, governance, and performance improvement, with strategic oversight rather than day-to-day safety delivery.

The position requires leadership, deep HV safety expertise, and the ability to influence executives while promoting a culture of ownership and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Significant experience working within high-voltage or high-hazard electrical environments.
• Chartered Engineer or MIET or equivalent professional standing.
• Willingness to undertake UK and occasional US travel.
• Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, NESC or other international electrical safety frameworks.
• Audit or assurance qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead group electrical safety standards, policies and governance frameworks.
• Align local safety plans with Group strategy across UK and US.
• Develop and lead the Group Electrical Safety assurance strategy and support independent assurance activities.
• Oversee significant Electrical Safety investigations and drive organisational learning and performance metrics.
• Develop and deliver National Grid's long-term Group Electrical Safety strategy and influence senior leaders.
• Provide specialist advice to Group functions, including Procurement, to strengthen contractor and supplier safety performance.
