Job summary
Holt Engineering in Poole is seeking an experienced International Supply Chain Specialist to lead import/export activities and ensure UK and international trade compliance. You will act as the subject matter expert for customs, freight coordination and shipping, working with internal teams and external logistics providers.

Qualifications
- Experience in import/export, customs compliance, logistics or international trade.
- Strong knowledge of UK customs regulations and international shipping requirements.
- Experience with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
- Familiarity with import/export documentation and procedures.
- Experience with ERP and shipping systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Import/export, customs or logistics qualifications advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Manage import and export activities in line with UK and international trade regulations.
- Prepare, review and maintain customs documentation (invoices, packing lists, origin certificates, export declarations).
- Coordinate customs clearance with freight forwarders and brokers.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, sanctions and export controls.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound international shipments.
- Monitor shipments and resolve freight, customs or documentation issues.
- Provide escalation support for urgent customer shipments.
- Work with Warehouse and Customer Service to ensure timely dispatch.
- Review shipping documentation and ensure processes are followed.
- Support freight planning, scheduling and carrier performance.
- Assist with freight cost improvement initiatives.
- Monitor changes to customs and trade regulations and communicate impacts.
- Maintain records for customs audits and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain SOPs.
- Support ERP and shipping system improvements.
- Analyze logistics and compliance performance for improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement across customs, logistics and shipping.
