Job summary

Reed, a well-established manufacturing business, is seeking an International Logistics Specialist to manage import/export activities from initiation to completion within a global supply chain.

You will coordinate with freight forwarders and shipping providers, prepare documents (invoices, packing lists, SLIs, COOs), support the US shipping team, audit tariff codes, and monitor customs procedures and Brexit implications to optimise logistics performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in logistics and shipping, including international air and sea freight.
• Understanding of imports and associated duties.
• Knowledge of import and export customs processes.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Proven customer service experience.
• Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate import and export activities from initiation through to completion.
• Communicate regularly with freight forwarders and shipping providers across the UK and overseas.
• Prepare and process commercial invoices, packing lists, SLIs, COOs, and other shipping docs for exports from UK and USA.
• Organise and control all domestic transportation to and from UK-based suppliers.
• Work with internal departments, including Accounts, and maintain communication with external customers.
• Provide support to the US shipping team with logistics guidance and pricing information.
• Audit and maintain tariff code usage to ensure correct classifications.
• Identify opportunities to enhance logistics processes, including customs, duty management, and Incoterms.
• Submit international export declarations through CDS when required.
• Stay informed of logistics legislation and regulatory changes affecting UK/US destinations.
• Track and evaluate performance of UK/US freight forwarding partners with regular reviews.
• Undertake any additional duties as reasonably required.
