Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our client’s team in the UK. The role involves commissioning automation and testing systems across the UK and internationally, with hands-on responsibility for calibration, fault-finding, and providing customer training.

You will calibrate electrical, mechanical and data acquisition systems, tune control loops, and collaborate with automation, software and test engineering teams to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in commissioning automated machinery or test systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and control systems.
• Experience calibrating, testing and fault finding complex equipment.
• Understanding of PID tuning and control systems is advantageous.
• Ability to plan and organise workloads effectively.
• Strong communication skills and experience working directly with customers.
• Self-motivated with proactive, solution-focused approach.
• Able to travel within the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning plant, machinery and site systems to ensure safe operation.
• Calibrating data acquisition systems across electrical, mechanical and electronic domains.
• Carrying out PID tuning of control loops (speed, torque, temperature).
• Testing and validating bespoke automation software with development engineers.
• Configuring automated test sequences within flexible control systems.
• Conducting test runs, gathering results and verifying performance against specification.
• Producing commissioning schedules with site management teams.
• Supporting customer sign-off activities and ensuring system functionality requirements are met.
• Delivering customer training on operation of supplied equipment.
• Undertaking fault-finding, calibration and service visits as required.
