Job summary

Hernshead Recruitment Ltd seeks an experienced Commissioning Engineer for a major automation project in Dubai. You will commission and support COPA-DATA Zenon systems on site, working with project teams to ensure tested and operational PLC/SCADA solutions.

Ideal candidates have hands-on automation experience, strong fault-finding skills, and the ability to work independently yet collaboratively on international projects for the duration of the commissioning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within industrial automation or control systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with COPA-DATA Zenon is essential.
• Experience commissioning PLC, SCADA/HMI and control systems.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Experience with system integration, I/O testing and commissioning activities.
• Previous experience working on international projects and commissioning environments.
• Ability to work independently on site while working effectively as part of a wider project team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work in Dubai for the duration of the commissioning project.

Responsibilities

• Fault-find and resolve software, controls and communication issues during commissioning.
• Assist with system testing, I/O checks and functional testing.
• Support FAT/SAT activities and ensure outstanding issues are identified and resolved.
• Work closely with electrical, controls and project engineering teams throughout commissioning.
• Provide technical support during start-up and handover.
• Complete commissioning documentation, test records and punch lists.
• Liaise with the project team and client representatives on site to ensure successful project delivery.

About this position

We are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to support a major automation project in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning and supporting control systems on site, working closely with the wider project and engineering teams to ensure systems are tested, integrated and brought into operation successfully.

This is a hands-on commissioning position and requires someone with strong industrial automation experience, particularly with COPA-DATA Zenon.
