Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Aviation Master Planning Director to join our aviation team in the UK. You will lead high‑level airport master planning, capacity analyses, and strategy development for major international airports, working with airfield engineers, planners, and analysts.

You will manage multi‑discipline teams, nurture client relationships, and drive successful project delivery while promoting sustainability and global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in aeronautical/civil engineering, architecture, air transport management, or airport planning or similar
• Fluency in English – knowledge of other languages is valued
• World class aviation industry experience with chartership or equivalent skills
• Leading airport master planning projects at major international airports with deep technical coverage (airfield, apron, operations, terminals, landside)
• Chartership not essential but expected with related qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead leadership, management and delivery of airport masterplans and capacity analyses
• Coordinate airport planning tasks across airfield, terminals, landside and utilities
• Serve as Project Director for medium to large projects and major workstreams
• Develop people management skills and mentor junior staff
• Transfer technical knowledge to senior staff and grow project leaders
• Manage client relationships and seek new business opportunities
• Coordinate proposals, submissions and winning work for the team
• Collaborate with aviation disciplines and broader business units
