Job summary

Menzies Aviation is seeking a Station Manager to oversee operations at Glasgow Airport, reporting to the SVP Operations UK&I. You will provide leadership across passenger services, ramp, ops, de-icing and aircraft cleaning, ensuring SLA delivery and budget adherence.

The role requires a proven manager with strong operational and commercial understanding, capable of motivating senior teams and building effective stakeholder relationships with airlines, airport authorities, and unions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable leadership in managing and developing an operational workforce.
  • Extensive experience in aviation services (ramp, freight, passenger handling).
  • Financially and commercially astute with P&L responsibility.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong communication with senior airline and airport stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of international ramp handling procedures, safety and security including IATA.
  • Able to work with a multi-national workforce and adapt to local conditions.
  • Good knowledge of ramp GSE.
  • Proven ability to motivate senior management under pressure.
  • Flexible, determined and self-motivated.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the SVP Operations UK&I, the Station Manager is responsible for the business interests and operations at Glasgow Airport.

The current dedicated customer model provides a focused product offering, with principal services being passenger services, ramp, ops, de-icing and aircraft cleaning. The role requires a proven manager with a strong operational and business understanding.

What you will be doing
  • Planning, organisation and direction of operational activities at Glasgow Airport.
  • Ensuring safety and security procedures are according to standards set within the Menzies Health & Safety Policy Manual, and according to international aviation standards.
  • Leading, developing coaching and motivating managers to develop and utilise their skills.
  • Maximising business potential and revenue, identifying and developing new business opportunities were appropriate.
  • Leading service delivery to customer airlines in accordance with service level agreements and agreed budgetary levels.
  • Instilling policies and procedures designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the station, whilst promoting sound safety, security and people management practices.
  • Establishing, maintaining and promoting effective working relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Liaising with employee and union representatives on a range of employee relations matters when required.
  • Monitoring performance and taking action to correct any shortfalls.
  • Liaising with airline station managers, airport operations management, handling agents, customs, immigration, and security officials, union officials, and other airport stakeholders.
  • Providing reports as required, and service delivery measurements.

What we are looking for
  • Demonstrable leadership skills in managing, maintaining and developing an operational workforce.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of aviation services, ideally to include ramp, freight, and passenger handling.
  • Financially and commercially astute with a strong grasp of financial practices including P&L responsibility.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills
  • Strong communications skills and experience in liaising with senior airline, airport and other stakeholder personnel.
  • Fully conversant with international airline ramp handling procedures, international aviation safety and security procedures. Good working knowledge of the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement.
  • Able to work with a multi-national work force and to adjust to the local conditions of the station.
  • Good knowledge of ramp GSE.
  • Good working knowledge of the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement.
  • Ability to develop and motivate senior management team and work well under pressurized environments, often with conflicting priorities.
  • Flexible, determined and self-motivated.
