Job summary

John Menzies in Manchester is seeking a Hands-on Ramp and Baggage Handling Operative to support fast turnaround times for our airline customers. You will follow safety protocols and work as part of a busy team to ensure accurate baggage handling and on-time departures.

On-site role with training on GSE equipment, de-icing during winter ops, and close cooperation with flight crews. You will undergo background checks and security clearances as part of joining our team.

Qualifications

• A full 5-year work/unemployment/education history.
• Valid Passport.
• Proof of National Insurance.
• Proof of address.
• Full and valid UK Driving Licence.
• Criminal Record Check and Airside Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Undertake baggage sortation duties in a safe and efficient manner, setting up flights and using scanners where required.
• Carry out area hazard checks.
• Carry out aircraft inspections.
• Carry out equipment inspections, pre-trip, daily and weekly.
• Report faults or irregularities with equipment, facilities or processes to management.
• Carry out towing, pushback and headset duties with flight deck communication.
• Operate required GSE safely and efficiently for customer airlines.
• Provide de-icing during winter operations as trained.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Team Leader, BOH Supervisor & BOH Duty Manager. Delivering high performance standards around all aspects of ramp and baggage handling, meeting the requirements of our customers and maintaining health and safety and overall good working practices in accordance to company policies and procedures at all times.

What you will be doing

• Undertake all relevant baggage sortation duties in a safe and efficient manner, setting up flights, using BRS & Brock scanner where required.
• Carry out area hazard checks.
• Carry out aircraft inspections.
• Carry out equipment inspections, pre-trip, daily & weekly.
• Report any faults or irregularities with equipment, facilities or processes to the appropriate Management.
• Carry out Towing, Pushback & Head-set duties, including communication with the flight deck, in accordance with the relevant training received.
• Operate position and remove all relevant company GSE required for our customer airlines, in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the relevant training received.
• During winter operation provide de-icing to customer airlines in accordance with the relevant training received.
