Job summary

MorePeople is seeking a Giftware Department Manager to lead a busy Giftware department within a long-established garden centre group in Surrey. The role covers gifts, homeware, seasonal products and lifestyle accessories, with responsibility for guiding the team and driving sales.

You will oversee commercial performance, presentation, stock, and customer service, while managing rotas and coordinating with the wider management team during peak trading periods, particularly Christmas.

Qualifications

• Previous retail management or supervisory experience.
• Commercially minded with sales, stock management and merchandising knowledge.
• Strong people management skills and the ability to lead from the front.
• Eye for product presentation and visual merchandising.
• Organised, hands-on manager balancing commercial priorities with day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support the Giftware team.
• Drive sales, standards and overall department performance.
• Maintain attractive displays and strong visual merchandising standards.
• Manage stock levels, availability and replenishment.
• Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support seasonal range changes, promotions and key trading periods (especially Christmas).
• Ensure excellent customer service across the department.
• Manage rotas, administration and general department organisation.
• Collaborate with wider garden centre management.
