Job summary

Align Property Services is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead complex ground engineering projects from Otley with weekly attendance in Northallerton. You will mentor junior engineers, oversee ground investigations, and develop robust geotechnical designs for highway and land-slip sites across the region.

The role requires substantial post‑graduate experience in engineering geology/geotechnical engineering, Chartered status or equivalent, and strong report writing and client‑facing

Qualifications

• BSc in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related discipline; MSc in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Chartered Geologist (CGeol) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent accreditation.
• Substantial post‑graduate experience in engineering geology/geotechnical engineering.
• Experience planning, supervising, interpreting, and reporting on ground investigations.
• Strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering, slope stability, and geohazards.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, procurement, and delivery of complex ground investigation programmes.
• Oversee site investigations, logging, and monitoring activities.
• Develop and interpret ground models using geological and geotechnical data.
• Carry out advanced geotechnical assessments including foundations and earthworks.
• Lead landslide investigations and provide mitigations.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specs, and design documentation.
• Manage budgets, programmes, quality standards, and commercial performance.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior staff.
• Build client relationships and contribute to business development.
