Job summary

WSP in Cardiff is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. You will deliver geotechnical assessments and design outputs, develop ground models and interpret data to inform engineering solutions.

You will manage tasks, supervise ground investigations, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams. A proactive, Chartered-aspiring professional is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of ground risk and site investigation planning.
• Knowledge of soil and rock mechanics and geotechnical design.
• Experience delivering geotechnical assessments and reports in consultancy or client environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for high-quality deliverables.
• Experience supervising site investigations and coordinating fieldwork safely.
• Proactive problem solving and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.
• Progress towards Chartered status or commitment to accreditation

Responsibilities

• Deliver geotechnical assessments, reports and design outputs for a range of projects.
• Develop ground models, interpretation and design parameters for engineering solutions.
• Analyse slopes, retaining structures, foundations and earthworks; assess geological hazards.
• Manage own tasks and work packages, ensuring quality, budget and programme.
• Build relationships with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Plan and supervise ground investigations and interpret site data.
• Mentor junior engineers and engineering geologists.
• Drive innovation through sustainable design and digital data use
