Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist/Engineer to advance genomics workflows and develop production-quality software for DRAGEN Array. You will collaborate with scientists and engineers to translate biological needs into validated computational solutions, driving innovation across array and NGS analyses.

You will work on CI/CD, testing automation, telemetry and observability to ensure reliability in local and cloud environments, with a focus on precision medicine and translational

Qualifications

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Bioengineering, or a related field.
• Strong algorithm development and statistical modelling expertise.
• Experience with genomic data analysis at scale.
• Programming in Python and/or R.
• Experience with production software development practices.
• Knowledge of testing automation, CI/CD and software lifecycle processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of algorithms and probabilistic models for array and NGS data.
• Apply statistical, computational, and machine-learning methods to large genetic datasets.
• Design and develop production-grade software that automates analytical workflows.
• Contribute to testing automation and CI/CD for bioinformatics pipelines.
• Define and maintain CI/CD workflows supporting continuous integration and delivery.
• Implement telemetry, logging and monitoring for observability and robustness.
• Guide software lifecycle practices including verification and validation.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists, product teams and engineers.
