Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist/Engineer to advance DRAGEN Array software for array and NGS data analysis. You will work with wet-lab scientists, product and software engineers to translate complex genomic questions into scalable computational workflows.

The role emphasizes algorithm development, statistical modelling, and production-quality software engineering, with a focus on accuracy, scalability, and robust testing in both local and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field (Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Bioengineering) or equivalent.
• Strong algorithm development and statistical modelling expertise for genomic data.
• Experience with translating scientific needs into validated computational solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of algorithms and probabilistic models for array and NGS data analysis.
• Apply statistical, computational, and machine-learning methods to large-scale genetic datasets.
• Design and develop production-grade software automating analytical workflows at scale.
• Contribute to software testing automation, including unit, integration, and regression tests.
• Define and maintain CI/CD workflows for validation and delivery of software.
• Implement telemetry, logging, and monitoring to improve observability and robustness.
• Follow Software Lifecycle practices with requirements traceability and verification.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists, product management, and engineering teams to translate needs into solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance at staff level.
