Job summary

Illumina in Cambridge (UK) is seeking a Software Test Engineer 2 to join the End-To-End Solutions Software team. Hybrid work in Cambridge, full-time role focused on ensuring reliability, performance, and quality of genomics software that supports oncology and NIPT.

You will work with developers, scientists, and domain experts to translate complex requirements into test strategies and automation scripts, contributing to end-to-end solutions across the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience as a Software Test Engineer or in software quality/testing role.
• Strong programming knowledge in Java or Python and experience with automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Work in an agile Scrum environment, participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, and product demonstrations.
• Collaborate with fellow Software Test Engineers to design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites.
• Work closely with software developers, scientists, and domain experts to understand requirements and translate them into effective test cases and automated test scripts.
• Develop, execute, and maintain software test plans to ensure product quality and reliability.
• Analyse test results, identify issues, and work with development teams to support resolution and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to quality processes, test standards, and best practices across the team.
• Help ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle through effective testing and automation.
