Job summary

The University of Oxford's Radcliffe Department of Medicine, MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine invites applications for a Research Facility Scientist in the Genome Engineering, Transgenics and Virus Production Facility. You will join a specialist team delivering genetically modified models and reagents to researchers across the Institute.

Qualifications

• Substantial relevant laboratory experience.
• Broad practical expertise in molecular and cellular biology.
• Experience applying genome-engineering approaches to generation and validation of genetically modified model systems.
• Confident in planning and carrying out technically complex laboratory work.
• Systematic approach to experimental design, troubleshooting and interpretation of results.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to explain technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Design, generation and validation of genetically modified models across research groups.
• Collaborate with researchers to understand experimental requirements and develop genome-engineering strategies.
• Take responsibility for technically complex laboratory workflows from molecular design to genome editing, screening and validation.
• Work collaboratively with Facility users and discuss project requirements; provide technical advice and progress updates.
• Manage multiple projects at different stages to ensure efficient, high-quality service.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy and reproducibility in all work.
