The Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford invites applications for ambitious Postdoctoral Researchers to join the van Bijsterveldt Lab at the Generative Biology Institute in Oxford. You will design, execute and troubleshoot genome engineering experiments and contribute to building chromosomes from scratch among a growing, cross-disciplinary team.

Applicants should hold a PhD in synthetic biology, genomics, computational biology or related fields, have a strong publication record, and be adept

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field (e.g., synthetic biology, computational biology, genomics, robotics, automation)
• Track record delivering ambitious research projects
• Strong track record in molecular biology/synthetic biology or related fields
• Experience with data analysis and interpretation; genomic analysis desirable
• Ability to work independently, think creatively, and solve complex problems
• Experience publishing in high-impact journals and presenting internationally
• Excellent organisational and multi-project management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration in multidisciplinary teams
• Capacity to build collaborations internally and externally
• Resilience and adaptability in a fast-growing research environment

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and troubleshoot genome engineering experiments
• Analyse complex datasets using computational/statistical tools
• Contribute to research direction and refine questions
• Prepare and publish high-quality papers and presentations
• Present findings at conferences and meetings
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within GBI, EIT, and external partners
• Build and maintain research infrastructure and technologies
• Mentor junior researchers and support PhD students
• Translate findings into translational opportunities aligned with EIT
• Identify opportunities for intellectual property generation and protection
• Ensure activities comply with policies and best scientific practice
