Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Chelmsford is looking for a registered nurse to join Heybridge Ward on a 12-month secondment post (Band 5). The ward provides in-patient care across colorectal, urology and general surgery, for elective and emergency cases.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, develop skills, and deliver safe, high‑quality care, while supporting junior staff and adhering to NMC standards.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with NMC registration and current, active practicing status.
• Surgical exposure or experience in acute care settings.
• Experience in acute NHS hospital settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective patient care in accordance with NMC Code and Trust policies.
• Organise and deliver individualised patient care addressing physical, social and psychological needs.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the MDT to ensure high-quality care.
• Support the Senior Charge Nurse to maintain high standards of patient care with dignity and privacy.
• Implement local strategies to enhance care delivery and participate in nursing audits and evidence-based practice.
