Job summary

Your Recruiters Limited is seeking a hands-on General Operative in Northampton for a busy workshop environment. This is a varied, production‑focused role within a well‑run sheet metal business, supporting multiple areas of the shop floor.

Hours are Mon‑Thu 7:00‑15:30 and Fri 7:00‑15:00 (40 hours paid). Pay rate is £12.75 per hour with a benefits package on permanent contract, and a temporary‑to‑permanent pathway.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or workshop environment preferred.
• Comfortable with manual, hands-on work.
• Reliable with good timekeeping.
• Willingness to learn and support production.
• Basic understanding of health and safety in a workshop.
• Ability to work at pace and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Support different areas of the workshop as required.
• Hang parts for finishing or coating processes.
• Assist the paintline team.
• Pack finished products for dispatch.
• Potentially assist with basic assembly and preparation work.
• Move materials safely around the workshop.
• Keep the workspace clean and safe.
• Work to production targets while maintaining quality.

Job Title: General Operative

Pay Rate: £12.75 per hour + Fantastic Benefits Package (upon permanent contract)

Location: Northampton

Hours: Mon - Thurs 7:00am - 3:30pm | Fri 7:00am - 3:00pm (40 hours paid)

Contract: Temporary to Permanent

This Northampton based sheet metal business has over 30 years of trading history, supplying stainless, aluminium and mild steel fabrications across the UK and Europe.

The workshop is modern, organised and quality driven. Everyone has a role to play in keeping production flowing, and this position is key in supporting multiple areas across the shop floor.

This is a varied, hands on role within a structured engineering environment

What You'll Be Doing:

• Supporting different areas of the workshop as required
• Hanging parts ready for finishing or coating processes
• Assisting the paintline team
• Packing finished products ready for dispatch
• Potentially assisting with basic assembly and preparation work
• Moving materials safely around the workshop
• Carrying out general housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe workspace
• Working to production targets while maintaining quality standards

What You'll Need:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment preferred
• Comfortable with manual, hands on work
• Good reliability and timekeeping
• Willingness to learn and support different areas of production
• Basic understanding of health and safety in a workshop
• Ability to work at pace and follow instructions
