Job summary

The Ship Inn in East Grinstead is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial General Manager to lead our community high street pub. You will shape the offer, drive sales and create more reasons for locals to visit, building a strong connection with the town.

You’ll recruit and develop your team, run events and marketing with autonomy, and grow the business as the social hub of the area. This live-in role offers a generous bonus potential and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• Creative and entrepreneurial General Manager with a focus on hospitality and guest service.
• Ability to lead and develop a team, recruit and manage staffing, and drive sales.
• Experience running a pub or similar community-focused venue and organising events.

Responsibilities

• Lead pub operations, service standards and overall guest experience.
• Drive sales growth through events, marketing and community engagement.
• Recruit, train and develop the team to deliver high-quality hospitality.
• Set and manage the menu, promotions and branding within the business framework.

We're looking for a General Manager for the Ship Inn, East Grinstead. This community high street pub has an array of bookable spaces for events and celebrations, which also include its modern wrap-around beer garden. The ideal candidate has experience running a similar style of business, and has plenty of creativity to mould the offer and drive sales - creating more reasons to visit and increasing that connection with the local community. Lots of opportunity to grow sales through becoming the social hub of the community.
