An exciting opportunity for an experienced, ambitious, results-driven General Manager with Engineering Industry experience to make a real impact within a fast-growing, dynamic organization. Our client is one of the UK's leading engineering firms seeking a commercially driven, hands-on leader to shape the future of a key division within a thriving business. Reporting directly to the MD, you will manage a workforce of 100+ employees, providing strategic and operational leadership, effectively driving efficiencies, managing the full P&L, and ensuring all business and profitability targets are consistently achieved.
Responsibilities
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence in a fast-paced, competitive environment.
- Manage 100+ employees, including oversight of recruitment, training and development, performance management, succession planning, and disciplinary procedures.
- Ensure exceptional levels of customer satisfaction across all areas of the business through the delivery of high-quality service and operational excellence.
- Control operational budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure all business and profitability targets are consistently achieved.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process enhancements to drive operational efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
- Oversee all departmental functions to ensure alignment with company objectives and that performance targets are met or exceeded.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Extensive senior management experience within an engineering environment, ideally with a strong background in sheet metal, fabrication, and laser cutting operations.
- A demonstrable track record of driving business growth and delivering sustained profitability, with a strong commitment to customer service excellence.
- In-depth understanding of management profit and loss accounts, with the ability to make data-driven decisions that enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, combined with a collaborative leadership style and the ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers, creating a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
- Energetic, confident, and hands-on leadership approach, with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to inspire those around you.
