About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced General Joinery Manager to lead their bespoke joinery workshop in South London. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands‑on manager with a strong background in bespoke woodworking and a passion for delivering high‑quality, tailored joinery solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Leadership: Manage and oversee all aspects of the bespoke joinery workshop, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled team of joiners, machinists, and workshop staff. Allocate workloads, conduct briefings, and encourage professional growth.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with designers, project managers, and clients to interpret detailed drawings, confirm specifications, and ensure bespoke pieces meet client expectations.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control standards across all bespoke joinery work. Ensure every piece reflects precision craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Health & Safety: Maintain a safe and compliant workshop environment, including equipment maintenance and adherence to H&S protocols.
- Materials & Production Planning: Oversee stock, procurement, and workshop scheduling to ensure efficient production flow.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reduce waste, and enhance the overall efficiency of bespoke joinery operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing or supervising a bespoke joinery workshop.
- Exceptional technical knowledge of bespoke joinery techniques, materials, and machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Highly organised with excellent planning capabilities.
