National Trust is seeking a General Cleaner at Hardwick to keep the historic site in excellent condition for visitors. You’ll work 10 hours per week, typically over two days, with shifts spread across mornings and afternoons.

This fixed term contract runs until 28 February 2027. The role involves day‑to‑day cleaning, presentation of buildings and outdoor spaces, and delivering high standards of service to the public.

Summary

We’re looking for a General Cleaner with the practical skills and eye for detail to keep Hardwick in excellent condition and running smoothly for all the people who visit.

Hours:

You’ll work 10 hours per week. You’ll typically work 2 days per week, including weekdays and weekends. Shifts will usually be 7:30am–12:30pm, 11am–4pm or 12:30pm–5:30pm.

Duration:

Fixed term contract until 28-Feb-2027. There are two contracts available

You’ll be part of a small team of dedicated people who love to present Hardwick the best way possible for our visitors. Reporting to our Facilities Manager, you'll join a welcoming and friendly team who are always happy to help.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be helping with the day-to-day cleaning and presentation of the National Trust’s buildings and outdoor spaces.

Duties such as cleaning, sweeping and litter-picking, both inside and outdoors, form a core part of this role. You’ll aim for the highest standards of customer service everywhere you look after.
