Job summary

Amey is offering an on-site General Building Operative position at HMP Lincoln. The role involves maintenance tasks, supporting tradespeople, and ensuring safety and compliance on site. You may work weekends on a rotating pattern with an additional 15% allowance.

The base salary is £28,792 with a 39-hour week across 7 days and weekend rotation. Prison clearance is required, and Amey supports career development and long-term opportunities.

• Solid experience in DIY and general building maintenance.
• CITB relevant certification or equivalent.
• Willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
• Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
• Complete tasks associated with DIY such as Decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, repair of items around the prison.
• Check appliances, fittings and general environment are in good working order and all defects reported to Team Leader.
• General good housekeeping, including litter picking and landscaping around the grounds if required.
• All other FM duties as required directed by team manager.
• Support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
• Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an on-siteGeneral Building Operative in HMP Lincoln .

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week (across 7 days where a weekend shift pattern is in place).

There is a need to work 1 in 3 weekends on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).

The base salary is £28,792.

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons.

By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.

The General Building Operative plays an important part in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner.

What you will do:

• Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
• Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
