Job summary

Wilson Vale is recruiting a General Assistant for our workplace restaurant in North Hykeham. The role is permanent, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with two shift options: 7:30am–3:00pm or 4:00pm–11:00pm. You will support kitchen and front-of-house operations, enjoy a complimentary meal each shift, and benefit from a welcoming team environment.

The role offers on-site parking and opportunities for training, development and progression within our quality-led catering teams across the UK.

Qualifications

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a General Assistant to join our team at one of our workplace restaurants in North Hykeham LN6 3QX.

This is a permanent position working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Please note there are two shift rotations available for this role - 7:30am until 3pm or 4pm until 11pm. This role offers a fantastic work-life balance, on site parking, and a complimentary meal every shift.

Wilson Vale is an established, quality-led contract caterer. We work with amazing clients across the UK who place huge value on great food as a key part of their culture and community. We work in office restaurants, independent schools and at conference venues with the same high-end ethos throughout.

Our workplace restaurant and kitchen have recently undergone an exciting renovation, creating a vibrant and immersive working and dining environment for our catering team of 11 and around 500 guests. As a General Assistant, you’ll play an important role in supporting the smooth running of the kitchen and restaurant, helping with pot washing, basic food preparation, serving and general kitchen duties. Working alongside our friendly and hardworking catering team, you’ll help us deliver a high quality food and hospitality service, with all food prepared fresh on site. Alongside our newly renovated space, we are also looking to elevate our hospitality offer, including working lunches and other hospitality services. We are looking for a positive, reliable and hardworking General Assistant who enjoys working as part of a busy team. As our General Assistant, you will:

• Support the kitchen team with pot washing, cleaning and maintaining high standards of hygiene
• Assist with basic food preparation, including vegetable preparation
• Support with serving food and providing friendly customer service
• Assist chefs and the wider catering team with general kitchen duties
• Help with the set-up and clear-down of hospitality services and working lunches
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Have good communication and teamwork skills
• Be able to work confidently as part of a busy catering team
• Have a good understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices
• Be eligible to work in the UK
